Perfluoro-2-methylpentane, C6F14, is a fully-fluorinated, odourless, colourless liquid with the following characteristics:
- Compatibility with most construction materials
- Excellent chemical and thermal stability
- Non flammability
- Practically non-toxic1
Applications
Perfluoro-2-methylpentane finds many applications as a fluid for use in the electronics industries for testing and direct contact / submersion cooling, as a heat transfer fluid in organic Rankine engines as well as in rigid foam blowing and as a tracer and taggant.
Safety, Handling and Storage
Although Perfluoro-2-methylpentane is considered biologically and chemically inert, good laboratory practice should be observed when handling. Perfluoro-2-methylpentane has an indefinite shelf life if properly stored in its original sealed container. Safety data sheets are available on request.
